STUART HIGHWAY AUTOS' COMPREHENSIVE SERVICE SCHEDULE
 
Each service takes approximately 4.5 hours. Depending on model and condition of vehicle times may vary
 
INTERIOR CHECK
 
Test Hand Brake, Lubricate slides where possible … "Fords in particular"
Inspect Pedal Rubbers⁄Pads for wear, Test Horn, Test Radio operation
Inspect⁄Test All Exterior Lights Including Number Plate "visual headlight aim check"
Inspect⁄Test All Interior Lights Including Dash⁄Gearshift etc, Test CIG socket
Inspect⁄Test Front & Rear Wiper⁄Washer Operation and Wiper Blades
Inspect for cracking around door pillars, hinges, locks and general bodywork
Inspect seat belts, buckles, seats and seat mounts for wear⁄security
Lubricate doors hinges catches & window slides, also test operation including key
Check vehicle hight and report if necessary
Replace service sticker and stamp Log Book if one exists
 
EXTERIOR CHECK
Inspect all mirrors for cracks, damage and visibility
Inspect all windows for cracks, damage & cleanliness
Inspect body panels for rust, cracks, damage & safety, Check tyres
Check spare tyre pressure, jack, jack handle & wheel brace
Check locking fuel cap opens with key. Diesel = diesel cap ONLY
Test Winch Operation if fitted

ENGINE BAY AND PRE HOIST CHECK
 
Inspect & clean air filter, wash & re-oil if foam type, report any dust leakage
Clean air flow sensor if fitted
Recommend foam filter in the notes area below, if there is good reason
Check timing belt by kilometres per 100k … Must be inspected if not sure!
Check windscreen washer level & reservoir condition - report faults
Clean battery terminals, report poor wiring condition, check electrolyte
Inspect battery cradle security⁄clamping report or repair as necessary
Check power steering fluid level, oil condition\leaks - report⁄flush as necessary
Check automatic transmission fluid level⁄condition - report⁄change as necessary
Check brake⁄clutch fluid levels⁄condition⁄leaks - report⁄change as necessary
Inspect bonnet catch and general engine bay condition⁄cracks etc
Inspect and test coolant condition, reservoir levels - report as necessary
Pressure test cooling system, inspect hose condition & radiator mountings
Test⁄Recommend coolant level sensor, also Injector timing ?
Check all fan⁄drive belts for cracks and re-tension, replace as necessary
Inspect fuel filter residue, remove & replace oil filter if located in engine bay
 
UNDERBODY
 
Drain engine oil, change oil filter___(V8 Toyota support tube refitted)
Replace sump plug washer, "Tighten Sump Plug" (check tailshaft phasing)
Check front & rear suspension joints and bushes for excessive wear or cracking
Check CV Joints & Boots, Rack & Pinion Boots and Drive Shaft Universal Joints
Check Clutch Slave Cylinder for leaks, Check⁄replace fuel filter
Check exhaust system for movement⁄leaks plus mounts and hanging straps
Inspect and report on engine & gearbox mountings
Visually inspect chassis to body mounts plus chassis⁄body cracking
Visually inspect fuel & brake lines⁄hoses for cracking⁄damage - report as necessary
Inspect shock absorbers⁄struts⁄damper for damage, leaking, bush wear & loose shield
"Ford" calliper, radius rods & gearbox cross member bolts must be wired where applicable
Check for loose or damaged lower pivot hub studs and nuts (Mainly Toyota 4x4)
Report on all oil leaks and any critical under body damage and missing floor plugs
Grease suspension & drive shafts where necessary - replace missing grease nipples
Check diffs, gearbox & transfer case oil level⁄condition "check & repair breather tubes"
4x4 only, If alloy gearbox & transfer case, fit drilled & wired filler plugs
Inspect spare wheel carrier, adjust tension & report damage where necessary
Check "U" Bolt condition and any evidence of loosnes⁄movement
 
WHEELS AND BRAKES ON THE WAY DOWN FORM THE HOIST
 
Remove all brake drums, clean & check brake shoes, check wheel cylinder operation⁄leaks
Lubricate Toyota 4x4 handbrake shoe adjusters, Check brake cables & axle seals
Inspect all disc calliper "slides", leaks and disc pads for wear "Loctite Toyota 4X4 calliper bolts"
Disconnect Tie Rods Ends where appropriate and check pivot bearings for notches etc
Inspect & adjust slip joint, fully tighten then back off at least half rotation to split pin access
Adjust Brakes & Hand Brake as necessary
Remove axles, hubs etc, check all wheel bearings & seals then adjust as necessary
Fixed Axle Vehicles Only - Check Toe In and adjust as necessary
Check wheel studs, replace wheels using "never seize"
Inspect⁄report tyre wear⁄damage, check tyres & rims match eg: radial⁄normal
Rotate best tyres to front and check pressures, tension all wheels to the correct tension
 
ENGINE BAY -AFTER HOIST CHECK-
 
Insert engine oil then re-check the oil level after running the engine
Clean and return tools, clean work area, update paperwork
Degrease engine bay and⁄or under body as required, Protect battery terminals
 
TEST DRIVE VEHICLE AND CLEAN UP
 
Visually inspect front wheel camber and report as necessary
Hand brake performance
Check air conditioning system & vent operation
Check steering wheel alignment and rectify if not straight
Comment on acceleration or general performance if necessary
Report any wheel wobble
Report any wheel bearing noise
Test general braking and suspension performance
4x4 Only - Check free wheeling hub or constant 4 wheel drive operation
